Electric.ie is published by Electric Bureau Ireland Ltd. The magazine is circulated throughout Ireland and is available on wholesale trade counters and from representatives of electrical distributors who are members of EMDA The editor welcomes: contributions of technical papers, information on new products, details of installation projects and all editorial input of interest to our readers. Covid -19 is still having a major impact on our country and our industry. Working together and with electrical distributors and installers taking responsibility for their limited operations, we are making a contribution to the progress that has been reported nationwide. But the virus is still at large. As we reopen to business it is vital that we continue to observe the public health guidance. To stay safe we need to limit where we go and also limit the number of people that we meet. In keeping with advice on good practice, we have decided to cancel the 2020 EIFI Electrical Industry Awards event due to be held in September. We will be re- arranging this for early in 2021. We continue with production of our magazine and our social media activities, thanks to the support of our advertisers and other contributors. We appreciate the encouragement that we have had from the trade for our efforts in supporting communication in our industry. John Clare IEBA (Irish Electrical Benevolent Association) have asked us to remind our readers that they may be able to offer assistance to members of our industry who have fallen on hard times due to changed circumstances, be it illness, work issues or other factors including issues arising from Covid 19. Noark Electric, a global manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial application, has appointed Reg Farrell Engineering as their exclusive distributor in Ireland. We are delighted to announce that John Clare has created a new Practical Guide to help electricians/engineers navigate through the new National Rules for Electrical Installations. John had participated in much of the production of the I.S.10101 rules. This new guide includes wiring diagrams, step by step testing procedures, and highlights changes in the new rules. John has now set up his own training company. www.johnclaretraining.ie In other news...... NECI challenges Labour Court Recommendations (Page 15).
