He continued to operate a very successful Electrical Contracting business until 2012 when he handed the reins over to his long-time employee Derek Nolan. A very astute and unassuming gent, John had a wealth of knowledge and he could hold his own on any topic. He enjoyed a good red wine and his knowledge on wines sometimes delayed our dining while he decided on the wine selection. John had a great zest for life and with a laughter that was infectious, there was never a dull moment while in his company. As Captain of the DREGS (Golf ‒ Our great friend John White sadly, passed away in the early hours of Saturday 7 December 2019. Society) in 1995 he was a great organizer of both venues and the music that followed most of our golf outings. His rendition of “The House OF The Rising Sun” became his signature tune and was always delivered with great gusto. As an MC he made sure that everyone participated and knew who could do a turn at singing or recitations etc, no one escaped. John showed extraordinary strength in the last few years. He had operation after operation and still enjoyed telling or listening to a good joke. He will be sadly missed by his family and fondly remembered by his many friends in the industry.
