Electric.ie is published by Electric Bureau Ireland Ltd. The magazine is circulated throughout Ireland and is available on wholesale trade counters and from representatives of electrical distributors who are members of EMDA The editor welcomes: contributions of technical papers, information on new products, details of installation projects and all editorial input of interest to our readers. As the spread of Covid-19 continues, we have to commend the efforts in the construction industry to keep all workers operational and safe. The electrical industry is playing its part in this. Contractors, distributors and wholesalers are ensuring that their staff are kept safe and well. The result of these many efforts is that we as an industry are managing to function throughout this second lockdown. If we can continue to do this, not only will it help our industry to flourish, but the wider Irish economy will benefit as well. It has never been more important to keep up this good work. At Electric.ie we are celebrating eight years of publication. Many of our supporters New Kellihers Branch in Celbridge have been with us from the start and many have jumped on the bus as we drove along. We thank each and every one for their support and we extend our gratitude to our growing family of loyal readers and contributors to the success of the magazine, our website and our social media activities. In this issue the new President of the EIFI, Gay Byrne, outlines his plans to continue the work initiated by outgoing president Mark Keogh to bring the industry closer together (page 25). Electrical industry members responded well to a request for support from the producers of the new RTE ‘DIY SOS’ programme. CEF Limerick with many of its suppliers contributed the materials and The Kirby Group completed the main electrical installation work. The task was to help a young family in Tipperary and it really was great to see the response from members of our industry. Electric.ie attended the "Big Reveal" on the last day and it was nice to see the genuine emotional bonds that had grown between the Kirby workers and the young Barry family (page 40). We congratulate Joe Walsh (Siemens), recipient of the NSAI 1997 award for his work on Fire Safety Standards. We also take a look at the new Amendment No. 1 on page 11. Electric.ie joined Kellihers for the opening of a new branch in Celbridge. Full report page 19. Gay Byrne, President of the EIFI Joe Walsh receives NSAI 1997 Award
