D onald Rumsford United States Secretary of Defence (at a press call in 2002) famously identified three levels of knowledge that can be used to sum up desperate situations. "There are known knowns;….things we know we know [and can bring into consideration]. We also know there are known unknowns;.…things we do not know [but we know where we can get the information]. But there are also unknown unknowns;….things we don't know we don't know!" The Covid-19 certainly falls into the latter category. Who could have dreamed that such a thing could happen and be transmitted worldwide, even to our own backyard, and impact directly on Irish life, business and economy with such effect. Considering the heroic efforts of the front line workers in this pandemic, we have to acknowledge that the pressure on our industry and community must be put into perspective. If our industry can plan to get back into business it will be as a tribute to those who have put their very lives at risk just so we can survive. Electrical wholesalers have been supporting this fight against Covid-19 from the start. Every day vans are being loaded with vital supplies for front-line projects across the country. Many individuals within these companies have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that essential equipment gets to where it is needed. One thing for sure is that community spirit is alive and well in Ireland. When all this is over, Irish electrical wholesalers will know that they have played their vital part.
