50 ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • Industry News The German manufacturer introduced the new PD5 Lamella device at Light & Building – the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building – at Frankfurt in March. The PD5 Lamella is certified DALI-2 and combines the advantages of PIR sensor technology with intelligent design as this is the first B.E.G. detector to have a rectangular flat lens. The device is pre-wired and can be plugged in and ‘clicked’ into place directly and is also suitable for installation in DALI2 luminaires and in a strip luminaire, as well as louvred ceilings or slatted ceilings. This is the first device from the B.E.G. Building Management System (BMS) Generation Two range to be updated to ensure its output uses even less power consumption than before. The software has also been given a ‘facelift’ with five new instances for convenient room operation B.E.G. Introduce New 'Plug and Play' Sensor for Slatted Ceilings via B.E.G. Mini IR remote control. New features also include setting options for the resolution of the light sensor from 12 bit to 10 bit which enable it to achieve improved light control results in unfavourable room conditions. The setting is made via the generically accessible memory bank. The reflection factor of PD5 Lamella can also be set to values between 0.1 and 1.0 - this simplifies the use of higher-level visualisations as the lux value transmitted by the sensor no longer needs to be converted. Paul Jones, Sales Director of UK & Ireland at B.E.G, said: “The B.E.G. PD5N-Lamella is a sensor with a flat, angular shape which make it perfect for design objects and cosy rooms. It is also convenient for electrical installers because it is simple to install, commission, is highly adaptable with promised efficiency and maximum comfort for users. “The sensor is ideal for optimum lighting conditions for working, atmospheric lighting scenes, presence-dependent blind and lighting control and has an attractive design making it ultraconvenient for organisation. “Once Integrated into louvred ceilings or luminaires, the rectangular, flat sensor is barely noticeable. Visually, office workplaces are becoming increasingly similar to home-like living spaces and the PD5MLamella helps to achieve this outcome.” www.beg-luxomat.com B.E.G. has launched a new energy-efficient ‘plug and play’ PIR occupancy sensor which has been developed specifically for slatted ceilings in buildings.
