Working in partnership with B.E.G., specialists in intelligent building controls, the charity commissioned a state-of-theart management system to optimise lighting efficiency and energy consumption across the site. B.E.G. supplied a flexible DALI lighting solution that reduces running costs by automatically adjusting lighting levels based on occupancy and daylight, helping the Foundation cut its energy use without compromising comfort. The new system includes fully automated occupancy sensors, scene plates for adaptable mood settings, and dimmable LED controls — creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere in consultation rooms, while maintaining the highest standards of energy efficiency. Dan Glynn, Regional Director at B.E.G., said: “The B.E.G. DALI solution not only significantly cuts the running costs of lighting but also enables flexible scene-setting to support a relaxed, supportive environment for clients and staff. Sustainability was a key focus, and the Helen Bamber Foundation’s commitment to reducing their carbon footprint aligns perfectly with the solutions we provided.” The charity's design team, supported pro bono by BDG Architecture and Design, prioritised sustainability throughout the building upgrade. High-quality insulation, energyefficient heating and cooling systems, and the reuse of existing materials further reduced the environmental impact of the move. Kerry Smith, Chief Executive Officer at the Helen Bamber Foundation, said: “We are proud to have created a new home that truly reflects our values — putting people and the planet first. Thanks to B.E.G. and all our partners, we now have a building that enhances A leading human rights charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary by moving into a new, energy-efficient headquarters designed to lower its carbon footprint while continuing its vital work supporting survivors of trafficking and torture.
