Our focus had to remain on growing the Company and embedding sustainability as part of our everyday business.” Like many organisations, Ei identified its Scope 3 carbon emissions as 80-90% of its overall footprint. Over the last 5 years the Company has been working hard with its global supply chain to audit suppliers and ensure they are buying from reliable and ethical suppliers who are working as hard as Ei to reduce their Carbon footprint. The Company received a Silver rating from EcoVadis in 2024 and again in 2025 – an endorsement of its efforts. Another area Ei has identified as high impact is in product design and manufacture. Its next generation product which will come to market next year – the 4000 Series will comprise less As Shannon based Manufacturer of Home Life Safety Solutions is set to conclude another record year, Sustainability is in sharp focus. Under new CEO, Leo Clancy, Ei is looking to the future and charting its next 5 decades of growth and success. plastics, labelling and packaging and critically – less energy to manufacture and to power. This means significantly less carbon emissions over the 10-year life of the product. Doran continues, “All of our global manufacturing is in one location – Shannon. This gives us great control. In addition to our Near Zero Energy HQ building we are now mid-way through a refurbishment programme of all of our existing building stock – which dates back to the 1960s. Heat pumps, solar PV, rainwater harvesting, heat recovery and ventilation, and LED lighting are all part of the mix in binging these buildings up to standard in the coming 12 months. Earlier this year we signed a PPA (Power Purchasing Agreement) with Flogas – meaning 50% of our electricity used on-site in Shannon is from a certified renewable source (windfarm). This will all impact on our Scope 2 emissions. One of the key challenges is bringing employees with us on this journey. There are 1,100 on site in Shannon. In addition to training and employee-led initiatives we are now focused on developing pro-active green teams across the organisation. One of the areas this has shone a light on is the need for better Waste Management and this will be a core focus for us in 2025 and 2026".
