The Dash of the Derg 2025 proved to be another resounding success, as members of Ireland’s electrical industry came together on September 5th for a memorable day of cycling, fundraising, and having the crack around the scenic Lough Derg. Sponsored once again by Ei Electronics and organised by the Irish Electrical Cycling Club (IECC), the event brought riders from across the sector together in support of the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA) — a cause close to the hearts of many within the industry. This year’s event offered cyclists a choice between two routes: the classic 116 km circuit around Lough Derg, and a shorter 63 km route, which incorporated the newly opened bridge over the lake before joining the main course for the final leg. Both routes started and finished at Flanagan’s on the Lake, where participants were greeted with well-earned refreshments and a goody bag with their medal. Click Litehouse, Ovia, ESPi. Their attention to detail and commitment ensured a smooth day for riders of all abilities, from seasoned cyclists to enthusiastic first-timers. Funds raised from the 2025 edition will go directly to the IEBA, continuing its vital work supporting members of the electrical community and their families during times of hardship. As the sun set over Lough Derg, participants reflected on a day that combined fitness, fun, and generosity — proving once again that when Ireland’s electrical industry comes together, the results are truly electrifying.
