The Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, announced that he has approved €5.4m for the Office of Public Works to complete the next stage of the redevelopment of the Conradh na Gaeilge headquarters at 6 Harcourt Street, Dublin. This historic building at 6 Harcourt Street is being developed under the National Development Plan as a centre for the Irish language in Dublin. This redevelopment supports the objective of the National Development Plan 2021-2030 to develop a language and culture hub in the centre of Dublin City. 6 Harcourt Street is one of three major Gaeltacht capital projects that are advancing in the Department along with the €35m redevelopment of Inis Oírr pier and the construction of a multi-million-euro Education and Youth Centre in Indreabhán, Co. Galway. The development at No. 6 Harcourt Street is separated into stages, and this stage of the development mostly involves ground works at the back of the building, but a modern extension is to be added to the historic building as part of the full development. €3.2m was approved for this initiative in February 2025 to undertake its first stages, which have now been completed.
