ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • 5 Editorial electric.ie Electric Bureau Ireland Ltd., Bluebell House Business Centre, Bluebell Avenue, Dublin 12 Tel: (087) 6698028 Info@electric.ie Reg. Dublin: 512293 Colin Sherlock General Manager Layout/Design colin.sherlock@electric.ie DISCLAIMER Electric Bureau Ireland Ltd. accept no responsiblity for the accuracy of contributed articles or statements appearing in this publication. Electric.ie is published by Electric Bureau Ireland Ltd. The magazine is circulated throughout Ireland and is available on wholesale trade counters and from representatives of electrical distributors who are members of EMDA The editor welcomes: contributions of technical papers, information on new products, details of installation projects and all editorial input of interest to our readers. Printed by W&G Baird As we move into the July/August period, we would normally expect activity across the electrical industry to ease off somewhat before the traditional rush of September arrives. However, 2026 appears to be bucking that trend. Across the country, apartment and housing developments continue at pace, while data centre projects remain a major driver of activity, with numerous facilities either under construction or moving through the planning and preparation stages. The demand for electrical expertise, products and services remains exceptionally strong, providing plenty of opportunities for contractors, consultants, distributors and manufacturers alike. Recent geopolitical events have also sharpened the focus on energy security and the need for Ireland to become less dependent on imported energy sources. This reality appears to have accelerated government support for renewable technologies, particularly solar energy. Speaking recently, Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Darragh O'Brien highlighted the importance of expanding Ireland's renewable generation capacity, noting that "Every megawatt of renewable electricity added to our system helps reduce our dependence on imported fossil fuels." He also emphasised the benefits of a balanced renewable energy mix, stating that "A diversified renewable electricity mix helps ensure a more stable and reliable electricity supply. Wind and solar complement each other by generating electricity at different times, under different weather conditions." These comments reflect a growing recognition that renewable energy deployment is now as much about national resilience as it is about sustainability. This edition certainly reflects the energy and momentum currently evident across the sector. Inside, you'll find a packed selection of product launches, industry reports and company developments. We cover the latest trade events from around the country, new branch openings and business expansion stories. We also feature the Dash of the Derg training programme, while reporting on LED Group's rebrand to BEX Group, bringing together the ROBUS, ATC and FuseBox brands under a new corporate identity. Elsewhere, GARO expands its renewables portfolio with the launch of new PV inverters and battery energy storage systems, BMC announces plans to create 500 new jobs as part of a major growth strategy, and Grant continues its investment programme with an €8 million commitment to next-generation cylinder manufacturing and production expansion. As always, we hope you enjoy the issue. Don't forget that the Dash of the Derg cycling event takes place on September 4th and promises to be another excellent industry gathering. The IEBA also still has tickets available for its annual Winter Ball, which will be held on Friday, November 20th. We look forward to seeing many of you at both events and wish all our readers a productive and enjoyable summer. EMDA Member Legrand at the recent AECI trade show. 6 ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • OVIA Ovia Ireland expands its market leading Flow range with the launch of the new 6 Pole lighting connection system Ovia Ireland has announced the launch of its new Flow 6 Pole range, an advanced addition to the company’s established Flow lighting connection and management system. Designed to meet the growing demand for flexible, intelligent, and future proof lighting installations, the new 6 Pole solution brings enhanced capability for modern commercial environments - including full support for DALI, switch-dim, and (0) 1-10V dimming solutions. Building on the success of the existing 3 and 4 pole Flow products, the new 6 Pole range provides contractors with a simple, plug and play method for creating more complex lighting installations quickly, safely, and with minimal disruption. The system has been engineered to reduce installation time, simplify configuration, and support easy re configuration as building layouts and client requirements evolve. The Ovia Flow system has always been about speed, safety, and flexibility. The new 6 Pole range takes this to the next level, giving installers a powerful solution for advanced lighting control without adding complexity. Advanced lighting control made simple The 6 Pole Flow connectors provide six dedicated terminals, enabling seamless integration with many lighting control systems including both DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) and (0) 1-10 dimming. This allows luminaires, sensors, and control devices to communicate intelligently, delivering precise lighting management and improved energy efficiency. With two way communication and built in monitoring capabilities, DALI enabled installations can be easily adapted as spaces change, without the need for rewiring, it also offers emergency lighting and energy monitoring which can be critical for commercial and industrial installations. The system also supports switch-dim and (0) 1-10V dimming, offering smooth, reliable brightness control for everyday use and full dimmable control during emergency operation. This allows the required light levels to be set or adjusted depending on the application of the area.

ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • 7 LEDVANCOEVIA Fast, safe installation with push fit technology Like the rest of the Flow range, the new 6 Pole products feature Ovia Ireland’s proven screwless push fit technology, designed to cut installation time in half. Integrated cable clamps, push in terminals, and a simple locking mechanism ensure a secure, low maintenance connection every time. The connectors are engineered for rapid testing, maintenance, and component replacement - allowing contractors to work more efficiently and with minimal disruption on site. Built for modern commercial environments The Flow 6 Pole range is ideal for offices, retail spaces, sports halls, exhibitions, and any environment requiring adaptable lighting control. For applications where fire safety and environmental protection are essential, the 6-Pole Flow cables are manufactured using Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) materials; so that it can offer enhanced fire and environmental protection. Expert lighting design support Every Flow 6-Pole installation is backed by Ovia’s in house lighting design team, providing comprehensive support from initial enquiry through to ordering goods. 8 ELECTRIC.IE • The Magazine & Website for the Irish Electrical Industry • RFE Smarter Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, Protected Assets RFE is strengthening it's commitment to delivering world-class reliability and predictive maintenance solutions to the Irish market through a partnership with IRISS. Together, the companies are supporting sectors including electrical infrastructure, renewables, manufacturing, utilities, pharmaceuticals, and other critical environments with technologies designed to improve safety, optimise performance, and future-proof maintenance strategies. At the centre of the offering is a shared focus on smarter asset insights and safer operating conditions, enabling facilities to move away from reactive maintenance models and towards more connected, data-driven, and resilient operations. Among the key technologies is the Safe-Connect range, which provides a simple yet highly effective visual warning of overheating conditions. Using thermochromic indicators that permanently change colour once critical temperature thresholds are exceeded, Safe-Connect helps maintenance teams identify potential electrical faults early. This reduces the risk of equipment failure, limits unplanned downtime, and improves overall workplace safety. The indicators are durable, and require no power, they deliver continuous 24/7 monitoring without maintenance overhead. Installation is straightforward—clip on, stick on, or paint on—requiring no specialist training. The result is instant visual awareness of overtemperature events, even for non-technical personnel, helping issues to be addressed before they escalate. E-Sentry: Continuous Wireless Asset Monitoring Complementing this is E-Sentry, a fully integrated system of wireless sensors, hubs, and smart tags designed to provide continuous visibility of electrical and mechanical assets in demanding industrial environments. By enabling real-time condition monitoring, E-Sentry reduces the need for frequent physical panel inspections, helping to improve both operational efficiency and technician safety. The system supports proactive maintenance strategies by identifying developing issues before they become critical failures. This early warning capability allows maintenance teams to plan interventions more effectively, reduce unplanned outages and extend asset life while maintaining operational continuity. VPT Series IR Windows: Advanced Infrared Inspection Access Also included in the portfolio are advanced infrared inspection solutions such as the VPT Series, part of the latest generation of IR windows. The VPT Series uses proprietary Poly-View System™ technology, enabling compatibility with a wide range of thermography cameras for monitoring energised electrical equipment.
